Skyside
The Band
Kerstin Steiner - Vocals / Piano
Kerstin Steiner has an instantly recognisable voice, with an enviable range of expression.
The songs she writes for Skyside are reflective and intimate. On stage, she translates
this into an electrifying performance. She has sung classical, jazz and gospel, and as
a trained dancer has been involved in many electronic and dance projects.
Jonnie White - Vocals / Guitar
Jonnie White
has a varied musical history. Classically trained on the violin, he has played a lot of the classical orchestral repertoire.
He studied African and Asian music at SOAS in London, playing amongst other things
Mbira, Kora, Gamelan and Djembe. He now concentrates on guitar and songwriting, and in addition
to playing with and writing for Skyside, he organises
Floorspot, an open-stage for songwriters in Vienna.
Christina Gaismeier - Violin
Christina Gaismeier is a classically trained violinist who has played in a wide variety of bands, most notably Ballycotton. Joining Skyside in 2008, she has brought her own individual style and musical heritage with her, broadening the Skyside palette. She weaves wonderful melodies into the songs, lifting them higher.
Martin "Tino" Mixan - Double Bass
Tino is so passionate about music that he plays as many instruments as he can, including double bass, violin, clarinet, saxophone, piano, mandolin, and some Swedish keyed instrument violin type thing. Tino combines the very serious job of playing Skyside's fundamentals with a wicked sense of humour. Tino also plays in other bands, including Pallawatsch and Harlequin's Glance.
Tony Bakro - Drums
Tony has played a lot of different music styles,
from Hungarian folk to Funk. He also plays the dulcimer, although, as yet, it
doesn't feature in a Skyside song.
He's very versatile, which is great news for Skyside!
